Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received two official visits from Brazilian President Luiz In¡cio Lula da Silva and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa ahead of the official opening of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits tomorrow.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, these visits aim to bolster Malaysia's external relations with South America and Africa.

The Prime Minister's Senior Press Secretary, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, highlighted that Lula da Silva's visit marks a new chapter in Malaysia-Brazil bilateral relations, focusing on economic justice and universal prosperity. This visit follows Anwar's participation in the BRICS Leaders' Summit in Rio de Janeiro, where Malaysia advocated for a fairer international trade system.

Anwar's discussions with Lula da Silva are expected to explore new collaborations in the economy and technology sectors, while also addressing regional and global issues through South-South cooperation. Later, Anwar is scheduled to meet with Ramaphosa to enhance Malaysia-South Africa relations, which have been growing since the 1990s.
