Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his approval for the reappointment of Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, and Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar as senators for a second term, effective immediately and extending until December 2, 2028.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) announced that these reappointments will allow the three ministers to continue their essential roles in ensuring policy continuity, governance, and advancing the national reform agenda under the Malaysia MADANI framework. The PMO emphasized the Prime Minister's commitment to finalizing the list of MADANI Government ministers and deputy ministers through a careful and prudent review process, with a focus on the interests of the people and the nation's reform trajectory.
Earlier today, Saifuddin Nasution, Zambry, and Mohd Na'im reaffirmed their commitment by taking their oath of office as senators for the second term in a ceremony before Dewan Negara president Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah. This reappointment allows them to maintain their respective ministerial positions as Home Minister, Higher Education Minister, and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs).
The reappointments were made by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, in line with Article 45(1)(b) of the Federal Constitution. This marks the continuation of their service, following their initial swearing-in as senators in December 2022.
