Polls: GRS Confident Of Winning Over 40 Out Of 55 Seats Contested – Hajiji

Beaufort: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is confident of winning more than 40 of the 55 state seats contested in the 17th Sabah state election on November 29. GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the confidence was based on the strength of the party machinery, solid grassroots support, and solid cooperation shown by all component parties in the coalition.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hajiji emphasized that the coalition is targeting more seats and is confident of defending the government, as more than 37 seats are required for a simple majority. He expressed optimism about contesting in 55 constituencies and obtaining more than 40 seats. Hajiji also mentioned the goal to defend both Klias and Lumadan seats, highlighting the campaign efforts under the 'Rumah Kita, Kita Jaga' initiative for these areas.

Hajiji praised the service record of two GRS candidates, Datuk Isnin Aliasnih @ Liasnih (Klias) and Datuk Ruslan Muharam (Lumadan), noting their hard work and contributions to change in the area. He urged voters to give a new mandate to these candidates, acknowledging their achievements over the past five years as elected representatives.

Hajiji also stressed that GRS is a fair government, implementing development initiatives without discrimination based on race, ethnicity, or belief during its five years of administration, ensuring benefits for all Sabahans. He detailed development plans through four main thrusts: agricultural, industrial, tourism, and human capital development and education sectors.

He highlighted the government's commitment to improving living standards, including job opportunities through new industrial projects. Hajiji cited the SOGIP Industrial Park in Sipitang as an example of economic revival post-COVID-19, where agreements with large companies have been signed, promising benefits for the people of Beaufort, Klias, and Lumadan. He also announced the provision of two additional dialysis machines for the Klias and Lumadan areas to support residents' needs.
