Port Dickson Army Museum Introduces Entry Fees After Nearly Two Decades

PORT DICKSON: The Port Dickson Army Museum has begun charging entry fees for visitors, ending nearly two decades of free access since its opening. The museum, a significant attraction in the region, has implemented these fees to help cover maintenance costs after years of welcoming guests without charge.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the museum announced the new fees through a notice on its official Facebook page. Malaysian adults will now pay RM2 for entry, while children aged seven to 12, persons with disabilities (PWD), and senior citizens will be charged RM1. Entry remains complimentary for children under the age of six. For non-Malaysian visitors, the fee is set at RM5 for adults and RM2 for children aged seven to 12, PWD, and senior citizens. Children under six are exempt from the fees.

The museum, which opened on June 28, 2005, is accessible to the public from Wednesday to Sunday, including public holidays, between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The last tickets are sold at 4:30 p.m. The decision to implement entry fees follows recommendations from the state government, as reported by Bernama, to introduce reasonable charges at both the Port Dickson Ornamental Fish Centre and the Port Dickson Army Museum to aid in their upkeep.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun highlighted the importance of these attractions, noting that they are among Port Dickson's key highlights, with the museum and fish center recording 154,074 and 201,113 visitors, respectively, in 2024. Meanwhile, the Negeri Sembilan Fisheries deputy director, Doreen Wee Siew Leen, confirmed that the Port Dickson Ornamental Fish Centre continues to maintain its free admission policy for now.
