Musa Aman Sworn In As 11th Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri

KOTA KINABALU: Tun Musa Aman was officially inaugurated as the 11th Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah in a formal ceremony at Istana Seri Kinabalu. The event marked the beginning of Musa's term, following the conclusion of his predecessor's long tenure. The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials and was characterized by traditional protocols and prayers for the state's prosperous future.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Musa Aman, accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, arrived at the ceremonial hall at 10.11 a.m. and took the oath of office at 10.22 a.m. The event was presided over by the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Sebli, who witnessed Musa's signing of the instruments of office. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor delivered a congratulatory address, underscoring a commitment to allegiance and support for the new governor.

The ceremony also included a recitation of prayers by the Sabah State Mufti, Datuk Bungsu Jaafar, who prayed for the state's prosperity under Musa's leadership. The official proceedings concluded at 10.43 a.m. with the departure of the new Yang Dipertua Negeri.

The event was attended by key figures such as Deputy Chief Ministers Datuk Seri Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, Datuk Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, and Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, as well as Sabah State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim M Yahya and State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong.

Musa Aman's appointment was formally recognized on December 17 when he received his letter of appointment from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, at Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur. His tenure as Yang Dipertua Negeri will span from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2028. Musa succeeds Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, who served as the state's governor for four terms starting January 1, 2011, and ending December 31.
