Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the issue of rising prices affecting petty traders will be addressed at the upcoming Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. The meeting will explore potential measures to alleviate the financial strain on small business owners who are experiencing gradual but impactful price increases.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted that feedback from petty traders, including food stall operators, indicates a consistent rise in prices week by week, which significantly affects their operations. He emphasized that this information comes directly from the traders themselves rather than official reports or government officials, underscoring the importance of grassroots feedback in shaping policy.
Anwar noted that while official data may suggest that prices are under control, the government must consider the actual experiences of those at the grassroots level when formulating policies. He emphasized the need for more effective monitoring of price changes and the development of strategies to mitigate their impact on small businesses.
In the Cabinet meeting, Anwar intends to discuss potential solutions for monitoring price hikes more effectively. He acknowledged the expertise of government officials and economists but stressed the necessity of listening to the voices of those directly affected, such as small business owners, to ensure that government actions align with the needs of the community.
