MyNIISe Full Implementation Set for September with Enhanced MyKad Security Features

Kuala lumpur: The National Integrated Immigration System (MyNIISe) is scheduled for full implementation this September, coinciding with the introduction of enhanced security features for MyKad in June. This initiative is part of the government's strategy to fortify the national identity system and enhance public service delivery, as announced by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the minister emphasized that this development represents a significant milestone for the ministry in managing national identity more effectively and ensuring smoother movement of people. The updated identity cards and passports will be equipped with advanced security features, reflecting the evolving security needs and challenges.

Saifuddin expressed confidence in the readiness of the National Registration Department and the Immigration Department, highlighting their strategic plans to ensure a successful transition to the new system. He described the initiative as a historic moment for Malaysia, marking the culmination of extensive efforts to improve the security of national identification documents.

Significant progress has already been made in preparation for the system's launch, including the provision of necessary prerequisites and enablers. This will facilitate citizenship application submissions, as allowed by recent amendments to the Federal Constitution. The initiative also aligns with ongoing system upgrades and data migration efforts aimed at bolstering data security and enhancing system efficiency.

In January, Saifuddin announced the upcoming introduction of redesigned passports and MyKad, underscoring the ministry's commitment to a more efficient identity management system capable of addressing public concerns. He praised the disciplined and organised approach of his team in implementing these reforms, which are expected to significantly benefit the public.

The minister also highlighted the critical role of border security and the immigration system's efficiency in managing cross-border movements. He stressed the government's unwavering commitment to maintaining high national security standards amid increasing cross-border activities and global security threats.

Saifuddin identified border security as a key performance indicator for the Home Ministry this year, underscoring the importance of preventing unlawful syndicate activities that threaten national security.
