Prime Minister Stresses Need for Determined Youth in National Development

Kuala Lampur:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the importance of a determined and knowledgeable younger generation to drive national development. He highlighted the need for young leaders with talent and leadership qualities to navigate the challenges and complexities of the country's governance.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar shared these insights during his speech at the 2026 MADANI Fellowship Programme. He noted the diverse backgrounds of Malaysians and the expectations placed on the government to deliver the best outcomes.

The MADANI Fellowship Programme, rebranded from the Perdana Fellowship, aims to develop youth leadership through a mentor-mentee approach involving the country's top officials. This four-month initiative involves 76 youths aged 23 to 29, providing them with placements at various ministries and government agencies to gain direct exposure to national policies and the administrative system.

Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, underlined the importance of exposing participants to the government's administrative machinery. He encouraged them to utilize this opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of governance and engage with ministry programs and parliamentary debates.

The Prime Minister also proposed enhancements to the initiative, suggesting that participants spend time at different ministries to broaden their understanding. He urged the fellows to expand their knowledge and make full use of the opportunities for exposure during the programme.

Anwar concluded by acknowledging the strong support from Cabinet members, viewing it as a testament to the government's commitment to fostering youth leadership development.
