Penang: The Penang Signature Gold, Gems and Jewellery Fair (PSG Fair) 2025, organised by Elite Expo Sdn Bhd with the Penang Goldsmith and Jewellers Association (PGJA), will be held from Aug 15 to 17 at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre here. This Southeast Asia's largest gold fair is expected to attract over 5,000 trade buyers and delegates from around the world.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Elite Expo chief executive officer Datuk Johnson Lim stated that more than 120 booths from over eight countries, including the United Kingdom, Turkey, China, Thailand, Singapore, India, Japan, and Malaysia, will showcase gold, fine jewellery, gemstones, precious metals, machinery, and packaging innovations. Lim mentioned that the event is exclusively for industry players, with participation from 80 to 85 percent of Malaysian jewellers alongside major companies from Singapore, Dubai, Indonesia, and Brunei.
Lim further added that the event aims to reinforce Penang's position as a global gold and jewellery hub while fostering regional business opportunities. This year's edition will coincide with Malaysia hosting the ASEAN Summit, with top jewellers and associations from the region invited for conferences and networking sessions.
Key programmes include the Market Development Grant (MDG) Seminar by MATRADE on the opening day and a gold price forecast on Aug 16 featuring speakers from the World Gold Council and Metal Focus. Lim highlighted that Malaysia is among Asia's few tax-free jewellery markets, making it an international hub for the trade.
Meanwhile, PGJA president Datuk Ivan Chee announced that the PSG Fair will debut Malaysia's first dedicated jewellery fashion show, the Penang Jewellery Fashion Week (PJFW) during its 37th gala dinner on Aug 16. Chee stated that this concept will set a new benchmark in presenting jewellery craftsmanship, blending haute couture with fine jewellery for industry leaders, buyers, and international guests.
