Kuantan: Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) has called on the public to place full trust in the police in investigating the case of an individual stepping on the Quran, which recently went viral on social media. YADIM president Datuk Dr Hasan Bahrom emphasized the importance of adhering to established legal processes and urged citizens not to take matters into their own hands, which could disrupt the ongoing investigation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hasan expressed appreciation for the swift action taken by the government and authorities in addressing the incident, highlighting their commitment to upholding the sanctity of Islam. He cautioned against impulsive actions that could escalate tensions and stressed the significance of following legal rules and procedures.
Acknowledging the severity of the act, Hasan stated, "The act is extreme and can even be described as an insult to other religions, whereas we should respect one another's faiths." He emphasized the need for citizens to understand and appreciate the sensitivities of others and advocated for maximum possible action against the perpetrator to serve as a public lesson.
Hasan also advised against posting inflammatory comments on social media, urging the public to preserve harmony in Malaysia's multiracial society. He stressed the importance of fostering values that promote peace and harmony among different races, despite existing differences.
