Ahmad Zahid Hails Jin Wei’s Never-Say-Die Attitude After Singapore Triumph

Kuala lumpur: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has congratulated national women's singles shuttler Goh Jin Wei for ending an eight-year title drought by winning the Singapore International Challenge crown today. He expressed that the victory was significant not only for the shuttler but also for all Malaysians who have been following her journey, highlighting her resilience and determination.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid emphasized Jin Wei's exceptional recovery from injuries and setbacks, illustrating that hard work, discipline, and confidence can overcome all challenges. He expressed hope that this success would be a turning point leading to more achievements, stating, "Malaysia is proud of you.' He conveyed his congratulations through a Facebook post.

The third seed Goh Jin Wei met expectations by taking just 30 minutes to defeat unseeded Indonesian Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi with a score of 21-11, 21-11 at the Singapore Badminton Hall East Coast @ Expo. This victory marks Jin Wei's first Badminton World Federation (BWF) title since she last won the Orleans International crown in France in 2016.

At 26 years of age, Jin Wei has a commendable track record, having previously secured the women's singles gold at the 2017 SEA Games, the gold medal at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, and two World Junior Championships titles in 2015 and 2018.
