Kuala lumpur: Religion must continue to be upheld as a core element in building a united and civilised nation, especially as society faces various crises and challenges in the present generation, says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Zulkifli emphasized that the humanitarian, economic, and social crises occurring globally today indirectly encourage society to return to seeking religious values, ethics, and guidance. He highlighted that the current global situation, marked by various crises, serves as a reminder for humanity to return to seeking divine guidance and direction.
Dr Zulkifli made these remarks during his speech at an Iftar event organized by non-governmental organizations under the Malaysian Islamic Welfare Council (MAIM). He observed that the increasing questioning of secularism worldwide has prompted people to look towards religion as a source of guidance.
He further noted that this development presents significant opportunities for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and religious institutions to shape public thinking towards moral values and universal humanity. Dr Zulkifli urged all NGOs and community leaders to set aside differences and work collectively towards making Malaysia a model nation that is peaceful and harmonious, grounded in religious and noble values.
The Minister added that the MADANI concept introduced by the government serves as a universal framework of thought aligned with the teachings of all religions, capable of becoming a foundation for unity among people of various races and beliefs.
