Resilient Economic Ecosystem Crucial To Sarawak’s 2030 Jobs, Income Targets

Sarawak: Sarawak must develop strong and resilient economic ecosystems as the foundation to achieve its goal of creating 500,000 skilled jobs and increasing the state's median household income to RM15,049 by 2030. Sarawak Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the targets are outlined under the state's Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sagah emphasized the importance of ensuring that every Sarawakian has access to meaningful employment across diverse industries by prioritising innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability. This strategy involves building a robust ecosystem for renewable energy, developing green-powered industries, strengthening the semiconductor value chain, and preparing the workforce for the digital economy.

Sagah noted that in recent years, the world has experienced a rapid technological shift driven by artificial intelligence and digitalisation. He warned that Sarawak cannot afford to be left behind in this global trend. Industry players must adapt swiftly, and local talents must be equipped with the right skills, digital tools, and mindsets to thrive in the changing landscape.

By focusing on these areas, Sagah believes that Sarawak can empower its people to seize new opportunities, drive innovation, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of both Sarawak and Malaysia as a whole.
