Accra:A total of RM200,000 has been designated for maintenance work at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Berangan to improve educational facilities and ensure the comfort of the school community.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of Education (MOE) secretary-general, Datuk Wan Hashim Wan Rahim, announced that alongside the maintenance funds, SMK Berangan received 10 laptops valued at RM26,000 from Palo Alto Networks Malaysia and a smartboard worth RM10,000 from the Tun Hussein Onn Teacher Foundation.
Additional contributions included 16 Samsung tablets, each worth RM1,200, from the Yayasan Didik Negara for outstanding students in Kampung Bunut Sarang Burong, as well as reading materials and books from the Institut Terjemahan Buku Malaysia, Majlis Buku Kebangsaan Malaysia, and the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.
Datuk Wan Hashim highlighted the importance of these contributions as catalysts for opening educational opportunities and improving quality of life. He spoke at the closing ceremony of the Santuni MADANI programme under the 'One Leader, One Village' initiative at SMK Berangan.
He emphasized the MOE's commitment to bridging the educational gap between rural and urban areas, ensuring access to quality education for all children. Education, he noted, involves cooperation among schools, families, communities, government agencies, and strategic partners.
The Santuni MADANI programme aims to foster leader-community engagement, allowing leaders to listen to and address the community's needs. Datuk Wan Hashim expressed hope that schools would continue to excel and serve as community centers integral to the lives of local residents.
