Sabah: The number of flood victims in Sabah has remained stable at 6,732 individuals from 2,293 families as of noon today. This was confirmed by the Sabah State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat (JPBN), which reported no increase in the number of evacuees at the temporary relief centres across the four affected districts.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, a total of 177 villages have been impacted by the floods, with Beaufort being the hardest hit with 93 villages inundated. Tenom follows with 46 villages, Sipitang with 22, and Membakut with 16 villages affected. As a result, all victims are currently housed in 32 relief centres established since last Wednesday, as residents find themselves unable to engage in their daily routines.
In addition to the current situation, the Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a forecast predicting thunderstorms in several interior regions of Sabah today, which may further complicate recovery efforts and prolong the displacement of affected residents.
