Sabah Heart Centre Construction to Conclude by Q3 2027

Kota kinabalu: The Sabah Heart Centre construction project at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital is projected to be finalized in the third quarter of 2027, with operations commencing within 24 months thereafter, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad announced.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this initiative is part of the new projects under Rolling Plan 1 (RP1) of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), with a total budget allocation of RM125 million. The allocated space for the centre at the hospital is deemed sufficient, with construction costs covering preliminary works, building upgrades, and equipment provision.

Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that the Ministry of Health is presently engaged in the procurement process for material testing, anticipated to conclude in August. The value management laboratory is expected to be implemented in the first quarter of 2027. He shared these updates after the Sabah Health Development Joint Action Committee Meeting, alongside Sabah Women, Health and People's Wellbeing Minister Datuk Julita Majungki. Also in attendance was the secretary-general of the Ministry of Health, Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad.

The Health Minister emphasized that the project is among the Ministry of Economy's priorities this year, receiving significant attention. He expressed optimism that the construction would be completed by the third quarter of 2027, enabling the Sabah Heart Centre to be operational by the third quarter of 2029.
