Ranau: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is setting its sights on attracting 60,000 visitors to the 2025 KPDN Carnival and Sabah Zone Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign (KBBM) over the next three days. The event, which offers free admission, is being held at the Ranau Sports Complex from July 25 to 27.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, KPDN Business Development Division director Adiratno Che Ani expressed optimism regarding the sales target of RM250,000, which is expected to be achieved through the KBBM. A total of 60 entrepreneurs from Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia are participating, offering a range of products including handicrafts, food, and beauty items.
Adiratno highlighted that the KBBM, themed 'Jom Beli Lokal' (Buy Malaysian Goods), serves as a vital platform for local entrepreneurs and micro, small, and medium enterprises (PMKS) to broaden their marketing networks, thereby stimulating the domestic economy. He encouraged public attendance to support local goods available at attractive prices.
In addition to promoting local products, the carnival, themed 'Our Efforts for Everyone', aims to foster community interaction with government agencies to disseminate information on government policies. The event features activities such as arm-wrestling, karaoke contests, a colouring contest, an E-Sports competition, and The Band Showdown concert, all designed to convey cost of living messages through entertainment.
The carnival also boasts a Lucky Draw, offering grand prizes including a Perodua Alza 1.5L (H), a Proton S70 1.5T Premium, and a Modenas Karisma EX 125 motorcycle. Attendees can benefit from various services and advocacy initiatives, including consumer advisory services, company registration, and promotions of the Special Discount Card for Rahmah Menu and the Price Catcher app.
Additionally, the MADANI Rahmah Sales Programme (PJRM) is providing daily necessities at prices 10 to 30 percent lower than the market rate. Adiratno extended an invitation to the public, particularly those in and around Ranau and nearby districts, to partake in the carnival's diverse offerings, including the MyFutureJobs Career Carnival.
