Selangor: Tertiary students undergoing industrial training at any Selangor government agency or subsidiary will receive an allowance of RM1,500 per month starting next year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari stated that the new rate applies to students undergoing industrial training at the Offices of State Executive Councillors, as well as state assemblymen, with an allocation of RM1.5 million provided for this purpose. He noted that the current market allowances for internship programmes are insufficient for students and graduates, with some receiving only between RM800 and RM900 per month.
"The state government will top up the difference according to the existing rate so that 500 Selangor graduates and students undergoing practical training receive a more appropriate allowance of RM1,500 per month," Amirudin said while tabling the Selangor 2026 Budget at the Selangor State Assembly.
In addition to the internship allowance, Amirudin announced an allocation of RM17.378 million for the implementation of the Education Fee Subsidy under the Selangor Government's Higher Education Institutions for next year. The state government will bear 50 percent of the tuition fees for 4000 children of Selangor who are furthering their studies at the Universiti Islam Selangor (UIS) and Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) for the September 2026 intake.
