Selangor Police Achieve Significant Reduction in Accidents During Op Selamat 23/2025

Selangor: The accident rate during Op Selamat 23/2025, held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration in Selangor, saw a notable decrease of 144 cases, or 6.8 percent, compared to the previous year's operation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan reported that the number of accident cases recorded this year stood at 1,980, a decrease from the 2,124 cases reported during Op Selamat 21/2024. The six-day operation, from January 28 to February 2, also saw a reduction in fatal accidents, with five fewer cases or a 26.3 percent drop, totaling 14 cases compared to 19 last year.

Furthermore, the number of deaths decreased by eight cases in the current operation compared to the 22 fatalities recorded during Op Selamat 21/2024. Hussein highlighted that during Op Selamat 23/2025, a total of 23,962 summonses were issued for various offences, showcasing the commitment to traffic enforcement.

The Selangor contingent was recognized for its efforts, winning the best summons traffic enforcement category. This accolade was announced at the Op Selamat 23 Chinese New Year 2025 Appreciation Ceremony held at Persada PLUS (PLUS Malaysia Berhad) on February 4.
