Selangor:The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has emphasized that the fundamental role of a constitutional monarch remains unchanged despite societal evolutions. His Royal Highness highlighted the monarch's duty to uphold the Constitution, preserve continuity, and serve as a unifying symbol above political differences.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sultan Sharafuddin articulated that the monarchy provides stability during times of change, underscoring the importance of enduring institutions in safeguarding national harmony. This message came during a special interview marking his 25th year on the Selangor throne.
The Sultan further explained that the Constitution offers clear guidance on his responsibilities, emphasizing his obligation to serve all people of Selangor without bias. He highlighted that the monarchy's respect for constitutional principles, impartiality, and fairness helps maintain its status as a trusted institution for all citizens, regardless of their background or political beliefs.
In his remarks, Sultan Sharafuddin reiterated that the monarchy stands for continuity, stability, service, and responsibility. He noted that leadership should be seen as carrying obligations rather than privileges. These values, he believes, continue to hold relevance as societies thrive on institutions that promote moderation, unity, and respect for the rule of law.
