Sepang UMNO Leader Faces Charges for Remarks Against Christians

Sepang:Sepang UMNO Division Chief Datuk Noorazli Said appeared in Magistrate's Court today, facing charges related to comments allegedly made against Christians during a speech at the 2026 UMNO General Assembly.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Noorazli, 48, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read by Magistrate Nurul Izzah Hasan Basri. The allegations pertain to remarks made at Dewan Merdeka, World Trade Centre, Jalan Tun Ismail, on September 12 at 11:20 am, supposedly linking Catholic priests and nuns in a manner intended to hurt the feelings of Christians.

The charge is under Section 298 of the Penal Code, which stipulates a maximum penalty of one year imprisonment, a fine, or both. Noorazli was granted bail at RM6,000 with one surety, and the court scheduled the next mention for November 18.

The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Fadhly Mohd Zamry, while lawyer Datuk Hasnal Rezua Merican represented Noorazli.
