Property Agent Fined for Following Deputy Prime Minister’s Convoy

Shah Alam:A property agent has been fined RM4,000 by the Magistrates' Court after pleading guilty to disregarding a police order by trailing the convoy transporting Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Magistrate Nurul Izzah Hasan Basri imposed the fine on 27-year-old Bryan Marc Daniel and stipulated an eight-month prison sentence if he failed to pay. The fine was subsequently settled.

The incident occurred when Bryan Marc Daniel, driving a sports utility vehicle, ignored a police officer's directive while the officer was performing duties on the Shah Alam Expressway from Kajang to Subang Jaya. The violation, which took place at 9:32 am, was charged under Section 21(2) of the Police Act 1967. This section prescribes penalties of up to RM10,000 in fines or two years of imprisonment, or both, for such offenses.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Farhanah Arul Hisham prosecuted the case, and lawyer R. Karnan represented the accused.

A video of the incident, which went viral, showed the SUV driver following the Deputy Prime Minister's police convoy from Kajang to Sunway Medical Centre in Subang Jaya. Despite warnings from the police escort, the driver persisted in following the convoy.
