Seven Terengganu PKR Division Heads Support Nurul Izzah To Run For Deputy President Post

Kuala Terengganu: Seven Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) divisional chiefs in Terengganu have expressed their strong support for Nurul Izzah Anwar to contest the party's deputy president post for the 2025-2028 term. Terengganu PKR Information Chief Dr Che Wan Ku Hashim Che Ku Mat said Nurul Izzah is well-qualified to hold the party's number two position, citing her extensive experience and long-standing involvement in navigating the party through its various challenges and milestones.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Che Wan Ku Hashim emphasized Nurul Izzah's significant contributions to the party, highlighting her role as the PKR Election Director during the 14th General Election (GE14), where she played a pivotal role in securing 31 seats for the party. Her leadership during this period was marked by numerous successes, reinforcing her capability to lead PKR towards a progressive future.

Che Wan Ku Hashim, who also serves as the Besut PKR chief, noted that Nurul Izzah's approachable and grassroots-friendly nature would further inspire and motivate the party machinery to achieve meaningful victories. This is particularly crucial as the party gears up for the upcoming general election. The PKR divisions in Terengganu that have expressed support for Nurul Izzah include Besut, Kemaman, Dungun, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Nerus, and Setiu. However, Marang was unable to offer support due to a suspension issue following protests at its general meeting.

Nurul Izzah has officially announced her candidacy for the position of PKR deputy president for the 2025-2028 term. In her statement, she expressed her commitment to fulfilling the significant responsibilities and trust associated with the position, should the delegates deem her suitable.

The nomination process for the election of PKR's top leadership, which includes the Central Leadership Council (MPP), Central Youth wing (AMK), and Central Wanita wing, commenced at noon yesterday and will conclude at 11.59 tonight. The PKR National Congress, along with the AMK Congress and the Wanita Congress, is slated to occur from May 21 to 24 in Johor Bahru.
