Shanghai-Based LongCheer Technology Announces RM500 Million Investment in Johor

Shanghai: Shanghai-based global technology company LongCheer Technology is planning an investment of about RM500 million, which is expected to create 200 highly skilled job opportunities in Johor. Chairman of the state Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs and Human Resources Committee, Lee Ting Han, stated that the matter was discussed in a meeting during the state government's official visit to the city. According to BERNAMA News Agency, the investment will open up job opportunities in various fields, including engineering, product development, and sectors related to the modern electronics industry. The company, established in 2002, is recognized as one of the world's leading players in the design and manufacturing of electronic devices or original design manufacturers (ODM), in addition to developing various smart devices with international brands. Lee emphasized that although LongCheer Technology may not be a household name, the technology they develop is widely used globally. The company is involved in t he development of products such as smartphones, artificial intelligence (AI)-based computers, wearable devices, smart glasses, and mixed reality (MR) devices. This demonstrates its capabilities not only in manufacturing but also in design, innovation, and research on the latest technology. The meeting also focused on the potential for long-term cooperation and highlighted Johor's role as a major destination for high-tech investment in the region. Lee stated that the presence of investors like LongCheer will indirectly foster the development of a more advanced technology ecosystem in Johor, including technology transfer and talent development, as well as opportunities for local companies to become part of the global supply chain. He further noted that this investment aligns with Johor's direction to become a high-income state based on value-added industries, especially in the electronics, digital, and smart technology sectors. 'With Johor's strategic position and the support of initiatives such as the Johor- Singapore Special Economic Zone, we are on the right track to attract more quality investments like this,' Lee concluded.
