Johor Bahru:Police have confirmed a shooting incident involving police personnel near Johor Zoo on Jalan Gertak Merah today, resulting in an injury to a member of the public.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor Police Chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad stated that the incident involved police personnel and resulted in an injury to a civilian. A press conference is scheduled for tomorrow at 11 am to provide further details.
The area surrounding Johor Zoo is currently under tight police control, and the road leading to the zoo has been closed. Additional details, including the cause of the shooting and the condition of the injured person, are expected to be shared at the upcoming press conference at the Johor Police Contingent Headquarters.
The press conference will also cover updates on the investigation into the death of Form Four student Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal, who was found unconscious in a school hall in Yong Peng on October 3. A 16-year-old male has been remanded for six days to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
