Mentakab: Three sisters from Mentakab, Pahang, who had been unable to attend school since the start of the 2025/2026 academic session last week due to a lack of uniforms, have received aid from Pahang MIC.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the siblings, aged five, 11, and 13, were able to purchase school uniforms yesterday thanks to contributions from Pahang MIC, presented by MIC National Women's secretary Anita Kumari Abdullah. Anita, who is also special officer to the Pahang Menteri Besar, accompanied the children to buy their uniforms at a shop in Mentakab, along with Pahang MIC secretary Ismail Abdullah and Mentakab MIC branch chief Suresh S. Paramasivan.
'The assistance was provided immediately after we were informed by the public. We acted swiftly to ensure these siblings could return to school as soon as possible,' Suresh told Bernama. Prior to this, their elder sister, N. Suryadarshini, 19, had taken to TikTok to seek public assistance in purchasing school uniforms for her younger siblings.
Suryadarshini, who works at a motorcycle shop, expressed deep gratitude, saying she was relieved that her siblings could finally return to school like their peers after receiving the much-needed support. 'They kept asking when they could go to school like other children. It broke my heart knowing I couldn't afford to buy them uniforms,' she said.
She added that their 18-year-old brother works at a car wash, while their mother is a housewife and their father is currently seeking employment. Those who wish to assist the family can contact Suryadarshini at 010-6632912.
