Penang: SkyGate NHJ Technology Sdn Bhd has inaugurated its new manufacturing facility in the Perai Free Industrial Zone, Penang, expanding its technology-driven precision engineering presence in Malaysia.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, SkyGate NHJ Technology was established on July 14, 2025, as a joint venture between a subsidiary of Penang-based SkyGate Solutions Bhd and Singapore-based New Jin Hai Pte Ltd. This partnership leverages SkyGate Solutions' local presence and network alongside New Jin Hai's extensive experience of over three decades in precision engineering.
The new facility spans 36,000 square feet and is designed to support digitalised computer numerical control (CNC) manufacturing, automation, and advanced machining capabilities. It is equipped with advanced horizontal and five-axis CNC machining technologies to enhance manufacturing precision, productivity, and efficiency.
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow stated that SkyGate NHJ Technology's partnerships could create opportunities beyond investment in manufacturing capacity, including technology transfer, localisation, and the development of new capabilities within Penang's local ecosystem. The company's precision manufacturing capabilities position it well to contribute to the wider high-technology ecosystem, serving sectors ranging from semiconductors and electronics to medical, optical, and aerospace.
Penang is home to over 30 automated test equipment (ATE) companies, supported by over 80 ecosystem partners across automation, precision engineering, and semiconductor manufacturing. Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) CEO Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid highlighted that the company's investment reflects the type of collaboration Malaysia seeks to attract, which integrates local participation with international expertise, technology, and know-how. He emphasized that beyond the investment itself, the partnership will strengthen local capabilities, nurture engineering talent, and advance Malaysia's aspirations under the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 to move towards higher-value and more technology-intensive manufacturing.
SkyGate NHJ Technology CEO Li Jian stated that the company aims to create high-skilled employment opportunities, strengthen collaboration across the upstream and downstream supply chains, and contribute to Penang's manufacturing sector towards greater precision, efficiency, digitalisation, and intelligent manufacturing.
