Statements From 40 Individuals Recorded In Connection With Marriage Motivation Program – MAIS

Shah alam: Forty individuals have had their statements recorded to assist in the investigation of a marriage motivation program held in September of last year. Chairman of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS), Datuk Salehuddin Saidin, stated that among those involved are professionals, such as lawyers and doctors, in addition to the program organisers.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, recording these statements is crucial for completing the investigation paper, particularly to determine if any false doctrine was promoted during the program. Datuk Salehuddin emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, with the Selangor State Syariah Prosecution Department tasked with deciding if there are elements of an offence under the Syariah Criminal Enactment (State of Selangor) 1995. He also refuted claims that the Selangor Islamic Religious Departments (JAIS) are delaying the investigation.

In parallel, Datuk Salehuddin highlighted that MAIS has allocated RM18.4 million this year, through its Al-Riqab Rehabilitation Division, to assist socially and morally afflicted groups. As of June, 2,160 "asnaf riqab" (those in need of rehabilitation) have been aided. He mentioned that MAIS is considering the appointment of wardens from among retired soldiers or police officers in its schools to help curb bullying.

Furthermore, MAIS, in collaboration with JAIS, will host a Grand "Solat Hajat" program at mosques and surau across the state on September 5, following Friday prayers. This initiative aims to seek divine assistance to safeguard Selangor from negative influences and challenges threatening its harmony and stability.

In observance of the nation's 68th National Day on August 31, Salehuddin urged Muslims, particularly in Selangor, to embrace the true essence of independence. He called on them to protect their faith and steer clear of social ills that could jeopardize their future, especially for the younger generation.
