Banda hilir: SWCorp has announced a significant reform in public cleansing operations with the introduction of high-tech electric machinery. The initiative, which includes electric cleaning machinery and the No Dust operation, was launched in Banda Hilir. Khalid, a representative from SWCorp, highlighted that the reform aims to bring substantial long-term benefits to public cleansing services while improving service quality and efficiency.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the reform involves a detailed proposal that will be discussed with the Public-Private Partnership Unit (UKAS) and the Finance Ministry, marking a major policy decision. The new electric vehicles, which include three-wheeled motorcycles and a mini compactor, are expected to reduce air pollution, decrease fuel costs, and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
Additionally, under the 13MP, SWCorp plans to extend solid waste collection and public cleansing services to rural regions, particularly targeting villages in seven states, such as Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Johor. Khalid stated that plans are being drafted and methods discussed with state governments and local authorities to identify the villages involved in the expansion.
The expansion aims to improve waste management and reduce pollution, especially in areas where villagers commonly burn waste. Kampung Pulau in Melaka has been selected as the pilot project for these waste collection services by SWM Environment.
The launch event also saw the presence of SWM Environment's corporate general manager, Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin, further emphasizing the collaboration and commitment towards enhancing public cleansing services.
