Strengthening Coordination to Combat Profiteering, Says Prime Minister Anwar

Kuala Lumpur:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for enhanced inter-agency coordination to improve enforcement efforts aimed at controlling prices of essential goods and curbing profiteering nationwide.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar issued this directive during the National Cost of Living Action Council (NACCOL) Meeting No. 2/2026, which he chaired. The meeting focused on initiatives and immediate measures to ease the cost-of-living burden under the 2027 Budget.

Anwar reviewed the enforcement progress by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living in regulating essential goods prices and combating profiteering. He also emphasized the need for the government to continue monitoring global geopolitical developments and their impact on the supply and prices of basic necessities to promptly address any pressures on the people's cost of living.
