Kuala Lumpur:Efforts to accelerate digitalisation in public services must be accompanied by stronger governance, data security, integrity, and accountability to maintain public trust, stated Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abdul Halim emphasized that the increasing reliance on data and digital systems brings a heightened responsibility to manage data properly, securely, and with integrity. He stressed that digital transformation should not only focus on technology adoption but also involve changes in work processes, decision-making, and service delivery.
Speaking at the launch of the Department of Broadcasting's (RTM) Media Digital Insights and Analytics System (MeDINA) at Kota Media Angkasapuri, Abdul Halim highlighted the importance of building trusted systems in public service. He remarked that while efficiency is crucial, it must be paired with trust, as trust is the currency of public service.
The introduction of MeDINA marks a significant step in RTM's transformation towards becoming a more efficient, agile, integrated, and data-driven public broadcaster. Abdul Halim described MeDINA as a centralised digital analytics platform that consolidates data from various digital platforms, allowing RTM to better understand media trends and audience behavior.
He further explained that MeDINA enables analysis of broadcast content, improves operational efficiency, and ensures content and services meet public needs. Abdul Halim underscored the importance of translating data into actionable insights to make the organization more data-driven.
However, he noted that a good system alone is insufficient for change; the personnel, culture, and mindset within the organization must also evolve to fully realize digital transformation.
