Subang: Subang Member of Parliament Wong Chen has officially resigned as a Member of the Dewan Rakyat, effective at 5:00 pm today. Wong, who has served for three terms, confirmed that his official resignation letter was submitted to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul on August 5.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wong stated in a Facebook post that the early notice was submitted to allow the Parliament administration sufficient time to make the necessary preparations. He also shared a copy of the official letter dated August 5, 2026, indicating that his resignation and the vacation of the Subang parliamentary seat were done voluntarily in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Constitution.

In his resignation letter, Wong expressed appreciation to YB Tan Sri Johari and the staff of the Parliament of Malaysia for their support and cooperation throughout his tenure. "I express my appreciation and gratitude to YB Tan Sri (Johari) and the entire staff of the Parliament of Malaysia for the trust, support, and good cooperation throughout my three terms serving as a Member of Parliament," he stated.

Wong Chen also announced plans to hold a special press conference regarding his resignation at 11:00 am tomorrow. He added that the use of the honorific title "Yang Berhormat" on all billboards, signboards, and office correspondence will be discontinued starting next month.
