Sultan Of Pahang Calls For Full Preparedness Ahead Of Flood Season

Pahang: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has called for all parties to enhance preparedness for the upcoming flood season. In a post on the Pahang Royal Household's official Facebook page, His Royal Highness said thorough preparations must be made by all relevant agencies and departments to ensure the safety and welfare of residents in high-risk areas.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Al-Sultan Abdullah made the remarks after the Northeast Monsoon 2025/2026 briefing at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Administrative Centre (PPSAS) today. He emphasized that all parties must take earnest measures in making early preparations because the flood disaster requires cooperation from everyone. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of safeguarding the welfare of flood victims, including the provision of clean, healthy, and good-quality food at temporary relief centres.

Al-Sultan Abdullah highlighted the necessity for the cleanliness of toilets at the relief centres to be constantly maintained and properly managed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. He also mentioned that users should be given guidance on how to use the facilities. The Sultan further decreed that information on high tide occurrences, continuous heavy rainfall, and any situation that may pose flood risks must be well-disseminated to the public.

His Royal Highness suggested that the state government consider establishing permanent relief centres by upgrading existing halls, which would provide long-term benefits and reduce future management costs. He also urged all local authorities to step up cleaning works, especially at drains and drainage systems, to ensure water flow is not obstructed during heavy rain.

Al-Sultan Abdullah concluded by decreeing that all mosques and surau in Pahang perform solat hajat (special prayer) to ward off harm, seeking Allah SWT's protection so that the state is spared from flood disasters and other calamities.
