SynVista To Invest RM235 Mln In Energy Storage Facility In Selangor, Eyes Operations In 4Q

Kuala lumpur: SynVista Energy Holdings Pte Ltd (SynVista Energy), a Singapore-headquartered global leader in artificial intelligence (AI)-powered energy storage systems, is investing US$50 million (RM210 million) to establish its first energy storage manufacturing facility in Selangor. SynVista Energy Malaysia Sdn Bhd executive director Peter Phang said the facility is expected to commence production in the fourth quarter of 2025 (4Q 2025).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Phang mentioned that the production timeline is contingent upon government approvals, with certain regulations needing to be addressed. The facility, planned for Kuala Selangor, will have an annual output capacity of five gigawatt-hours (GWh) and is set to serve both domestic and international markets, including Japan and the United States. Phang shared these insights during the SynVista Energy Storage Full Lifecycle Summit, where Tengku Laksamana Selangor Tengku Sulaiman Shah Alhaj was also present in his capacity as honorary chairman of SynVista Energy Malaysia.

Phang highlighted Malaysia's strategic advantages, such as its location, government support for renewable energy, and established supply chain, as key factors for selecting it as the site for the facility. The initiative is expected to generate approximately 200 jobs, ranging from engineers and technicians to production workers.

Addressing global economic challenges, including US tariffs, Phang acknowledged the impact on SynVista Energy but noted strategies to mitigate these effects. "We do have big orders from America, and currently, the US tariff has slowed down a lot of orders. So, they are put on hold. But we try to expand to other regions so that we can have other markets that we work on," he stated.

SynVista Energy chairman Owen Chen emphasized the company's transformative step with the launch of the facility in Selangor, highlighting its commitment to a long-term partnership with local entities. "Through our localised production, rapid delivery, and strengthened partnerships, we aim to empower the regional energy storage value chain and bolster Southeast Asia's clean energy future. Looking ahead, we are excited to deepen our collaborations with Malaysian stakeholders to exchange knowledge, build capabilities, and co-create an innovative, high quality energy storage industry that fuels national energy aspirations," he remarked.
