Kuala lumpur: The Sexual Harassment Tribunal Agency (TAGS) under the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) documented 134 sexual harassment complaints from March 8, 2024, to August 30, 2026, resolving 90 of these cases.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri highlighted that TAGS, launched on March 8, 2024, serves as a crucial channel for victims seeking resolution and redress. The recorded complaints solely include those received directly at KPWKM counters, excluding police reports. The agency also extends its services to male victims and children, noting that four male victims have filed cases with the tribunal this year. Some victims have successfully won their cases and received compensation.

Following the conclusion of the Semporna Zero Tolerance for Violence: Advocacy Against Sexual Harassment (AAGS) and End Violence Against Women (EVAW) programs, Nancy emphasized KPWKM's ongoing commitment to advocacy, education, and accessible support channels to encourage victims to speak out against sexual harassment.

Addressing domestic violence statistics, Nancy reported 4,646 cases nationwide, with 424 cases specifically in Sabah, up to July this year. The figures underscore the necessity for a comprehensive, integrated, and sustained approach to women's safety through both governmental and societal efforts.

Nancy urged victims of violence or sexual harassment to courageously report their experiences through appropriate channels and maintain evidence to aid in their pursuit of justice.
