TEKUN Nasional: A Crucial Support System for MSMEs Amid Global Crises

Kuala lumpur: The National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN Nasional) has emerged as a crucial support system for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) facing global challenges, according to Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim. In an environment fraught with geopolitical and economic upheavals, TEKUN Nasional is tasked with ensuring the survival and growth of businesses, particularly those run by Bumiputeras.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sim highlighted the various global crises, such as geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions, and trade conflicts, which are impacting businesses. At the TEKUN Nasional 2026 Appreciation Ceremony, Sim underscored the organization’s pivotal role as a frontline defender aiding entrepreneurs to not only protect their ventures but also to enhance their business operations.

Sim further proposed the adoption of a 3C approach by TEKUN Nasional, focusing on efficiency, careful consideration, and sophistication. He emphasized the need for prompt application processing, suggesting a reduction in approval time to seven days to enhance efficiency.

He also stressed the importance of thoroughly vetting applications to prevent MSMEs from incurring unmanageable debt, advocating for comprehensive guidance to help these businesses succeed and repay their loans. Additionally, Sim urged TEKUN Nasional to support entrepreneurs in exploring technological and high-value sectors, including artificial intelligence and digital industries.

The TEKUN Nasional 2026 Appreciation Ceremony celebrated the efforts of TEKUN members with awards presented to 247 recipients for their contributions to empowering Malaysian businesses. Prominent attendees included TEKUN Nasional chairman Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid and Deputy Minister of KUSKOP Datuk Mohamad Alamin.

Pahang TEKUN Nasional manager Hassan Anuar, a recipient of the Best State Award and the Excellence Award, expressed optimism about the additional allocations announced by Sim, viewing them as opportunities for entrepreneurs to secure financing and bolster their businesses. He encouraged entrepreneurs to engage with TEKUN to leverage government-provided funds for business success.

Adam Naquiddin Abd Rahim, who received the Best Individual Collection Performance Award, acknowledged the support from TEKUN Nasional management and emphasized the collective effort to assist entrepreneurs in achieving future success.
