Terengganu Evaluates Work From Home Proposal Amid Energy Crisis

Terengganu: The Terengganu State Government is assessing the need to implement a work from home (WFH) arrangement for its civil servants in light of the global energy crisis arising from conflicts in West Asia. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the proposal is still under evaluation, and no decision has been finalised.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar stated that the matter has not yet been brought to a meeting and remains under assessment. He addressed reporters after launching the fifth Ijtimak Antarabangsa Perpaduan Ummah and Himpunan Alam Melayu 2026 programme, highlighting that the state government is considering the unique conditions of Terengganu compared to other regions.

Dr Ahmad Samsuri emphasized the differences between Terengganu and areas like the Klang Valley, where residents face long commutes that significantly impact fuel consumption. In contrast, Terengganu's situation does not mirror these challenges, yet the government will continue evaluating the necessity of a WFH arrangement.

Additionally, Dr Ahmad Samsuri mentioned a recent special meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which focused on sharing the latest economic developments and addressing current pressures. He underscored the state's role in tackling economic challenges and stressed the importance of cooperation among the government, private sector, and federal government to ease these pressures.
