Terengganu: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) seized over RM2.8 million worth of products in various operations conducted across Terengganu from January 1 up to yesterday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Terengganu KPDN director Mohd Mufsi Lat reported that these seizures occurred during 57,326 inspections carried out on 17,923 business premises throughout the state. These premises included shopping malls, markets, grocery shops, and restaurants. As a result of these inspections, authorities issued compounds amounting to RM353,375 and fines totaling RM173,200 under the Consumer Protection Act 2021, the Control of Supplies Act 1961, and the Weights and Measures Act 1972.
The inspections were distributed across various regions in Terengganu, with 20,383 conducted in Kuala Terengganu; 13,664 in Dungun; 10,658 in Besut; 7,472 in Kemaman; and 5,149 in Hulu Terengganu. During the launch of the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) for Christmas 2025, Mohd Mufsi Lat highlighted that nine items were listed under the scheme. These items included imported bone-in lamb meat, imported round cabbage, imported China carrots, tomatoes, green peppers, red chili, imported potatoes, big red onions, and big yellow onions.
