T’ganu Police Open 25 Investigation Papers Over Lucky Draw Scam

T'ganu: The T'ganu police have initiated investigations into 25 cases related to a lucky draw scam that has caused significant financial losses. The modus operandi involved victims unknowingly authorizing repeated transactions, leading to losses totaling tens of thousands of ringgit.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Khairi, a spokesperson for the police, stated that law enforcement is collaborating with banks and Bank Negara Malaysia to track the fraudulent transactions and identify those using mule accounts. The police are urging the public to remain vigilant and not to be deceived by offers encountered on social media.

Mohd Khairi further advised individuals to confirm the authenticity of any suspicious links by contacting their bank through official means. He emphasized the importance of not sharing One-Time Password (OTP) information and encouraged victims to report scams to the Scam Response Centre via the hotline 997 or through the portal https://semakmule.rmp.gov.my.
