Three Police Reports Filed Over Alleged Extortion by MPP Members

Kuala lumpur: Police have received three reports concerning a viral video capturing two individuals, suspected to be members of the Federal Territories Residents' Representative Council (MPP), allegedly soliciting protection money from a massage center in Wangsa Maju. Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus stated that the case is currently being investigated under Section 385 of the Penal Code for extortion, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which pertains to the dissemination of content.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, three reports have been filed, and investigations are actively ongoing. Police chief Marsus confirmed the receipt of these reports and emphasized the seriousness with which the investigation is being conducted.

The controversy escalated after Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), Hannah Yeoh, instructed that a police report be lodged and called for an immediate inquiry into the allegations. She assured that stern actions, including dismissal, would be considered if the allegations against the MPP members are substantiated.

The incident came to light when closed-circuit television footage went viral, showing two men reportedly introducing themselves as MPP members while demanding money from the massage center. The authorities have urged the public to come forward with any additional information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
