Three Siblings Die in Pontian Motorcycle Collision

Pontian:Three siblings, aged between eight and 18, lost their lives after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a lorry in Jalan Kampung Parit Haji Siraj, Kayu Ara Pasong, this morning.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the incident occurred around 7.20 am and involved a Honda motorcycle driven by an 18-year-old with his two younger siblings, aged 11 and eight. The motorcycle was traveling from Jalan Parit Haji Omar towards Kayu Ara Pasong when it collided with a Hino lorry coming from the opposite direction.

The motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Pontian Hospital. His two siblings, who were riding as pillion passengers, were pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries.

The 69-year-old lorry driver suffered injuries to his hands and knees and has received medical treatment. Preliminary investigations suggest the motorcycle collided with the front right side of the lorry, but further investigations are ongoing to determine the precise cause and circumstances of the accident.

Both the motorcycle and the lorry have been impounded as part of the ongoing investigation, which is being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Pontian district police headquarters' Traffic Investigation officer, Insp Roshini Suppiah, at 016-2553983 to assist with the investigation.

The deceased siblings have been identified as Nor Daniel Fikri Norlizan, 11, Puteri Naufa Raisya, eight, and their older brother, Nor Daniel Aiman, 18.
