Three Teenagers Injured by Electric Shock During Temple Procession

Mergong:Three teenage boys suffered electric shocks when a flag they were carrying during a vegetable temple procession came into contact with a high-voltage power line. The incident took place around 9 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Secretary of the Mergong Vegetable Temple Association, Chah Boon Chuan, stated that the accident involved two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old. The teenagers were promptly taken to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) for treatment.

The procession, attended by thousands, was proceeding along a main road when a strong wind, accompanied by light rain, allegedly caused the flag to hit the power line. The teenager holding the flag and two others nearby were injured by the resulting electric shock. All three victims are currently being treated in the red zone of the HSB, although their exact condition is not yet known.

Chah Boon Chuan noted that the flagpole was made of bamboo and that this was the first occurrence of such an incident. Videos of the incident, showing the victims lying on the road, have circulated widely on social media.
