Touch ‘n Go Expands RFID Network with New Enhanced Lanes

Kuala Lumpur:Touch 'n Go Sdn Bhd is set to expand its Enhanced Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) network by adding 10 new lanes by the end of the year to facilitate Malaysia's shift towards a Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) tolling system.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Operations Officer Liza Woon Yin Yin announced the expansion during Touch 'n Go's 30th-anniversary celebration. The move supports the government's barrier-free tolling initiative and aims to improve overall toll mobility through robust technology.

The new lanes will be implemented across five highways with two lanes each at the Putrajaya Toll Plaza on the Maju Expressway (MEX), Sungai Ramal Toll Plaza on the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway (SILK), Bukit Raja Toll Plaza on the Grand Sepadu Highway, and Bukit Jelutong Toll Plaza on the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE). Additionally, one lane will be added each at the Sungai Long and Ampang Toll Plazas on the East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE).

Currently, two Enhanced RFID lanes are operational at the Ampang-bound Dato Keramat toll plaza on AKLEH and the Putrajaya-bound Putrajaya toll plaza on the MEX Highway. The RFID lanes are equipped with technology featuring two RFID antennas and an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera to enhance security and accuracy.

Woon assured that the upgraded lanes will provide a smoother drive-through experience akin to the expected MLFF system. She also showcased Touch 'n Go's technological advancements at the MyASEAN Roads and Traffic Tech Expo (MyARTTE) at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

The company's statement noted that the new Enhanced RFID lanes will be marked with a gold star symbol for easy identification. These lanes utilize Touch 'n Go's Titan Flow technology, combining RFID with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to improve vehicle detection and toll transaction reliability at higher speeds.
