Tourism Activities in Tasik Chini Continue Uninterrupted Amid Resort Closure

Pekan: Tourism activities in Tasik Chini have not been impeded despite the ongoing closure of the main resort in the area, as stated by Pahang Unity, Tourism, and Culture Committee chairman Leong Yu Man. The Pahang Government Secretariat Corporation (PSK) is currently in the process of finding investors to reopen the resort.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Leong highlighted that the presence of the Tasik Chini Research Centre has ensured the continuation of tourism activities. The centre offers various facilities including accommodation, camping, boating, and kayaking, and has been well-received by visitors. Leong noted that the Research Centre is frequently fully booked on weekends and provides packages that include exploration of the local Orang Asli culture, Tasik Chini, and the surrounding forest.

The remarks were made during a Pahang State Legislative Assembly session at Wisma Sri Pahang, in response to an inquiry by Datuk Mohd Sharim Md Zain (BN-Chini) regarding the state government's plans to reopen the resort at Tasik Chini.

Additionally, in response to a question from Datuk Mohd Sofian Abd Jalil (PN-Luit), Leong mentioned that the state government has developed a policy and strategic plan to promote sustainable community-based tourism in the area. She also confirmed that no mining activities have been conducted in Tasik Chini since 2019, and the site continues to be a designated Permanent Forest Reserve. The Tasik Chini Management Plan will be implemented in a collaborative manner, involving 18 agencies, four Orang Asli villages, and will focus on ecosystem conservation through forest and lake restoration programs, with the involvement of the State Forestry Department.
