Trader Claims Trial To Six Investment Scam Charges Involving RM14,250

Kuantan: A trader pleaded not guilty in two Magistrate's Courts here today to six charges of deceiving individuals through non-existent investment schemes involving a total of RM14,250 last year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, three of the charges were read out to Nursafuraa Hamzah, 41, before Magistrate Tengku Eliana Tuan Kamaruzaman. For these charges, she was accused of deceiving a trader at a caf© in Gambang by offering a non-existent investment scheme, resulting in payments ranging from RM1,750 to RM3,900 being made into a bank account under her name between October 23 and November 24, 2025. The charges fall under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which stipulates a jail term of between one and ten years, whipping, and a fine upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Nabila Huda Jasmani proposed a bail amount of RM30,000 for the three charges. However, the defence counsel, Aiman As'ad Mohd Ghani, requested a lower amount, highlighting the accused's monthly income of RM2,000 to RM3,000 and her responsibility for two children. The court subsequently set bail at RM6,500 with one surety and scheduled May 13 for mention for the submission of documents.

In a separate proceeding before Magistrate Ellyna Othman, Nursafuraa faced three additional charges involving the same victim and location. She is accused of deceiving the trader into depositing between RM1,900 and RM3,000 into her bank account from September 18 to 21, 2025. Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Najmi Zaki Amer Suhaimi proposed a bail of RM15,000 for these charges, while the defence repeated their plea for a reduction. The court decided on a bail amount of RM9,000 with one surety and also set May 13 for the submission of documents.
