Kuala lumpur: Traffic was moving slowly on several major highways leading into the Klang Valley as of 6.30 pm today, following increased vehicle volume after the school holidays and heavy rain around the capital.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, a Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) spokesperson said southbound traffic on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) was congested from Permatang Pauh to Perai and from Tapah to Sungkai. Northbound traffic was also reported to be slow after the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza heading towards the city centre.
'On the PLUS E2 southbound, congestion was reported from Bandar Baru Nilai to Bandar Ainsdale and from Simpang Renggam to Kulai,' the spokesperson told Bernama. On the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), traffic is backed up northbound from Kota Damansara to Bukit Lanjan due to a trailer fire at KM21.9, which has blocked the left lane.
Slow traffic was also reported on the Johor Causeway heading north from Woodlands to Johor Bahru, and along the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link (Linkedua) southbound from Tuas to the Sultan Abu Bakar Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex.
Meanwhile, on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway (KLK), congestion was reported from Bentong to Lentang and from the Gombak rest and service area (R and R) to the Gombak Toll Plaza.
