Tun Dr Ling’s Lasting Legacy Highlighted by Communications Minister Fahmi

Kuala lumpur: The contributions and service of former transport minister and MCA honorary life president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik will long be remembered, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said. Fahmi expressed the significance of Dr Ling's work, highlighting the close relationship he shared with Dr Ling and his family, who were his neighbors during his formative years in Bukit Damansara.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi mentioned his special bond with Dr Ling's son, Keat, and acknowledged the late Tun's immense service to the nation. Fahmi shared his thoughts when meeting reporters after paying his last respects at the Xiao En Centre. Dr Ling passed away on Saturday at the age of 82, leaving behind his wife, Toh Puan Ong Ee Nah, and their two sons, Ling Hee Leong and Ling Hee Keat.

Fahmi, also serving as the MADANI Government spokesperson, noted that Cabinet members reflected on Dr Ling's years of service as the former MCA president. He emphasized the continuation of efforts initiated by Dr Ling and expressed his hope for the family's strength and patience during this challenging period.

Dr Ling was one of the longest-serving Cabinet members, leading the Transport Ministry for 17 years from 1986 until his resignation in 2003.
