TVET Graduates to Enjoy High Employability Through Industry Partnerships

Kuala lumpur: The government has assured that graduates of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions will enjoy a high employability rate through strategic collaboration with industry, enabling them to receive job offers before completing their studies.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated that this approach has been implemented through early engagement between TVET institutions and companies, as well as industry players, to ensure the courses offered align with labor market needs. This strategy aims to provide graduates with relevant skills that match job and industry requirements.

Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the Rural and Regional Development Minister and chairman of the National TVET Council, emphasized that the graduate employability rate is 100 percent due to job offers being made before students complete their courses. This proactive approach eliminates concerns about course mismatch, minimum wage issues, and a lack of job offers.

He shared these insights with reporters after delivering an address to the TVET@KKDW (Ministry of Rural and Regional Development) contingent for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang was also present during the address.

The government is additionally focusing on implementing High TVET courses to ensure graduates possess skills that meet current industry demands. Ahmad Zahid expressed confidence that the TVET@KKDW contingent has the potential to make history at the upcoming WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 competition.

During his speech, Ahmad Zahid encouraged participants to demonstrate strong mental resilience and emotional fortitude to showcase Malaysian talent on the international stage. He urged them to continue enhancing their skills, maintain discipline, and stay focused during the remaining two months of preparation before the competition, which will take place in Shanghai, China, from September 22 to 27.

The TVET@KKDW contingent includes nine participants from MARA TVET, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), and GIATMARA, who will compete in nine skill categories such as Fashion Technology, Cyber Security, and Electronics.
