Melaka: Two state government-linked companies in Melaka are preparing to be listed on Bursa Malaysia, announced Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh. Melaka ICT Holdings Sdn Bhd is currently assessing its readiness and undergoing organisational restructuring in preparation for an initial public offering (IPO), targeted as early as the first quarter of 2028 (1Q 2028). Similarly, Syarikat Air Melaka Bhd is undergoing restructuring and due diligence with a target to list as early as 1Q 2029. According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of local companies stepping onto a bigger stage to penetrate broader markets, thereby proving their capability to compete at the national level. Speaking at the 'RHB-Bursa Malaysia Retail Corporation Day' opening ceremony, he highlighted the state's commitment to not only support business inception but also to elevate companies with strong foundations to higher levels of success. Ab Rauf stressed that under the Melaka Sayang Rakyat con cept, the state government aims to facilitate local companies in establishing connections with strategic partners and accessing financing and investment opportunities to drive growth. He noted the critical role of RHB and Bursa Malaysia in providing companies with necessary opportunities, access to financing, markets, networks, and guidance. RHB has reportedly channelled RM485 million in financing to small and medium enterprises in Melaka, supporting their operations and business development. The Chief Minister also mentioned the state's ongoing efforts to attract major companies to Melaka, which would generate broader economic benefits, create opportunities for local vendors and companies, and provide more quality job opportunities. The event was attended by over 350 participants, including investors, company representatives, market practitioners, and business leaders, providing them a platform to gain insights on financing opportunities and market potential. The event also saw the presence of Datuk Mohd R ashid Mohamad, the group managing director/group chief executive officer of RHB Banking Group.
