Two Sets of ETS Trains to Arrive in April, Operational by August – Anthony Loke

Segamat: Two sets of Electric Train Service (ETS) trains are set to arrive in April and are expected to be operational by August this year after undergoing necessary trials. Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced this development, highlighting the progress of the ETS as a significant milestone in the nation's rail history, with services stretching from the Malaysia-Thailand border in the north to the Malaysia-Singapore border in the south.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anthony Loke stated that two trains from China, along with eight sets being assembled in Batu Gajah, Perak, will complete the southern route of the line. This follows the commencement of the ETS service at Segamat station in Johor on March 15. Loke emphasized that the operation of the trains would not be delayed for the completion of all 10 sets; instead, they will utilize whichever sets are ready. The expansion from Gemas to Johor Bahru will occur in three phases: Phase 1 to Segamat, Phase 2 to Kluang, and Phase 3 to JB Sentral.

During a media conference held after a working visit on the ETS from KL Sentral to Segamat Station, Johor, Loke also mentioned the introduction of a business class offering to provide passengers with a more comfortable and premium travel experience.

In addition, he disclosed that an allocation of RM300,000 has been approved for the Railway Asset Corporation (RAC) to construct a bridge connecting Segamat Station to the bus terminal. This project is scheduled to begin after Hari Raya Aidilfitri and is expected to be completed by October.
